How to get rid of dandruff without any chemicals

Old or young, most of us face that pesky dandruff, especially during the winter. Most dandruff shampoos contain chemicals which may damage your hair. So here are a few home remedies that really worked for me.

1. Indian Gooseberry or amla:

          Indian Gooseberry or Amla is considered to be a good hair tonic and is used for treating many hair problems, including dandruff. For treating dandruff, cut 3 to 4 fresh amla (the amount can be varied according to the length of your hair). Now boil the pieces in water till the amount reduces to half. Let the mixture cool and massage it on your hair. Leave it for about 15 mins. Then wash it off.

2. Henna:

          Henna is an excellent treatment for dandruff. Take a few fresh henna leaves and grind it with fresh amla. If fresh henna is not available you can use henna powder soaked in water. Apply the mixture well on every strand and on your scalp. Leave it till it dries and then wash it off with a mild shampoo

3. Aloe vera:

Aloe vera is said to cure many skin and hair problems including dandruff. Take some aloe vera gel; freshly extracted or store bought, and massage it on the scalp 15 mins before washing your hair.

4. Lemon:

Lemon can work wonders in treating dandruff. Squeeze a whole lemon in one cup of water. Apply the mixture on the scalp and wash it off with a mild shampoo after 10 mins

5. Neem leaves:

          Neem leaves have antibacterial properties and can cure many types of skin problems. Take some fresh neem leaves and boil it with water. When the amount reduces to half, take it off the fire and let the mixture cool. Apply the mixture on your scalp and leave it for half an hour and then wash it off.

Besides using any of the above methods for treating dandruff, follow a healthy diet.
