A Tribute to my Grandmother, Dr Swarnalata Baruah

There is always a person during our childhood, whom we look up to. For me that person was my grandmother. My grandmother wasn’t the one who would tell us folk stories of legends. Her stories comprised of historical events, facts and real Martyrs of war. She was the only woman historian of Assam, India; the author of Chutiya Buranji, the only written record of the Chutiya tribe of Assam. She also authored the last days of Ahom Monarchy and Assam History . Most of the books written by her are now text books for students pursuing history. It happened in the year 1982. I was a second year BSc Zoology major student. We used to have practical classes late night. Most of the practical classes include dissection of insects. There was an isolated section in our college, situated near the zoology department. During the late practical sessions, the rooms usually remained dark. How to get rid of dandruff without any chemicals

Old or young, most of us face that pesky dandruff, especially during the winter. Most dandruff shampoos contain chemicals which may damage your hair. So here are a few home remedies that really worked for me. 1. Indian Gooseberry or amla: Indian Gooseberry or Amla is considered to be a good hair tonic and is used for treating many hair problems, including dandruff. For treating dandruff, cut 3 to 4 fresh amla (the amount can be varied according to the length of your hair). Now boil the pieces in water till the amount reduces to half. Let the mixture cool and massage it on your hair. Leave it for about 15 mins. Then wash it off. 2. Henna: Henna is an excellent treatment for dandruff. Take a few fresh henna leaves and grind it with fresh amla. If fresh henna is not available you can use henna powder soaked in water. Apply the mixture well on every strand and on your scalp.
